A building in Norwich that has become a hotspot for vandals could be transformed into an Indian eatery, according to one newspaper, which could interest people looking for restaurant jobs in the area.

The Norwich Evening News reported on the plans to change the derelict site of the former Viking pub, which was closed in 2007, into a restaurant called The Royal Bengal.

Restaurant boss Sazu Miah tabled the plans and the newspaper reported that Broadland District Council is now considering giving him a new premises licence.

"We're trying to make an Indian restaurant with a good food service. We're waiting for the licence - without the licence, we can't open. There was vandalism there. We want to improve the area and I think neighbours will love it," he told the newspaper.

Giles Gibbons, founder of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, recently said that - at present - there is some understanding of the issues surrounding eco-friendly catering practices, but more needs to be done to spread the message.
