A new application for the iPhone is giving people in Leeds the chance to find out how clean their favourite restaurants are in a matter of seconds.
The Scores on the Doors website lists restaurants and takeaways across the northern city and, now, there is an option for smartphone users who want to see the hygiene ratings for eateries.
Councillor Tom Murray, Leeds City Council's executive board member for Environmental Services, said that the app makes it easy for people to find out information on potential venues.
"This is a great new way that makes it even easier for people to find out how their favourite restaurant has scored. More and more food premises are reaching five stars which means standard of hygiene and maintenance are improving all the time," he said.
Tania Jackson, managing director at Red Idea, recently said that traditional advertising mediums such as magazines and newspapers can often leave companies hoping for the best, whereas social media can be immediate and, more importantly, measurable.
