A new Indian restaurant has helped to transform a row of derelict shops into a culinary venue for residents of one east London area, according to a newspaper.

The Waltham Forest Guardian reported that the Tiffin Tin will open in the former premises of Royal China in Station Parade, Snaresbrook, with restauranteur Sassy Thiagarajah taking ownership of the new establishment.

He told the newspaper: "I think we have quite a good location opposite the station and it's a good area. Hopefully the plans won't have an effect on what we do."

The establishment will not be surrounded by new commercial developments, according to the newspaper, which stated that plans for new residential properties have been given the green light by Redbridge Council.

In other hospitality news, plans have been unveiled for a new 55-bedroom hotel at the under-construction Riverside Business Park in Barrowford, near Burnley in Lancashire.
