Olympics to create thousands of London hospitality jobs

Thousands of Olympic jobs will be created in London's hospitality sector when the 2012 Games come to the city, it has been suggested.
Jules Pipe, the mayor of Hackney, told the Economist that there have not been as many construction jobs available as was first expected.
However, he added to the newspaper that he has longer-term hopes for the broadcasting and media centres in the Olympic Park, which will have a knock-on effect on the hospitality sector.
Mr Pipe explained that the media centre could become a new base for Hackney's many small firms in the creative industries, such as those who do post-production work for Hollywood studios as well as printers and advertisers.
This, in turn, would create work in nearby coffee shops, bars and restaurants.
Earlier this month, statistics published by Visit London showed that the number of visitors to the city rose by 1.2 per cent year-on-year in May.
This increase suggests that work for those with hospitality jobs in the capital experienced a boom.
