The restaurant manager at a new eatery on the Isle of Man worked their first shift yesterday (August 2nd) when the venue officially opened its doors.
Abbey Restaurant was opened by the island's chief minister Tony Brown, Manx Radio reports.
Mr Brown handed over a ceremonial key to Sarah and Artan Guimmri, the proprietors of the establishment, which is based at Rushen Abbey.
The building that houses the restaurant has history as a pub and an all-girls school.
Its conversion to a restaurant was planned for a number of years and the building even faced demolition at one point.
The news provider recently reported that the commercial centre of Douglas is set to undergo regeneration.
Council leader David Christian said that the project must become the council's top priority.
The major work on Strand Street is set to start by next spring, subject to cash from the government's regeneration fund being approved.
