A new eatery is set to open in Cardiff next month, creating new restaurant jobs in the Welsh capital city.

Dragon's Restaurant and Carry Out aims to focus on traditional Welsh cuisine and its owners claim there is more to this than just cheese on chips, the South Wales Echo reports.

Llanelli-based Celtic food wholesaler Castell Howell Foods helped English businessman Mark Read to develop the menu.

"It's the capital city of Wales and there is nowhere really where you can go and have good Welsh food - we want to change that," Mr Read explained to the newspaper.

The 60-seat restaurant is to open in St David's shopping centre in time for the Ryder Cup, which is set to be staged in South Wales in October.

Earlier this month, the newspaper reported that an alcohol-free bar is set to be created in Cardiff, bringing new pub jobs to the city.

Former bar manager Ian Crosby said that he is opening the dry pub in an attempt to curb binge drinking in the city.
