Leisure jobs in Bournemouth are likely to be given a boost if £50 million plans to redevelop a part of the town centre into a cinema and restaurant go ahead.
Around 300 jobs could be created by the plan to attract nine well-known industry names to start businesses in the area, according to the Bournemouth Echo. Planning permission was given initially in 2006 and was renewed earlier this year.
The site is owned by NCP and will be developed by Licet Holdings. Licet director Chris Dymond said that the development had been delayed because of the UK's financial climate but he felt confidence had returned to the leisure industry.
He explained that the potential occupiers had all maintained their interest and were enthusiastic about carrying on with the project.
"We're ready to make it all happen, bringing a vibrant new attraction to the heart of town," added Mr Dymond.
Speaking to the Bournemoth Echo in 2009 after the development scheme had been saved from collapse, councillor John Beesley called it "a big vote of confidence" in the town.
