Restaurant recruitment in Dorchester has been given a fillip with the news that Italian food chain Zizzi is planning to open a new establishment in the Dorset town.
Based in the £100 million Brewery Square development, it is expected to make 50 jobs available in a 3,500 sq ft building.
It joins other big hospitality firms such as Pizza Express and Wagamama in signing up for the regeneration project, reports the Dorset Echo.
The project instigated by Waterhouse and Resolution Property is expected to generate 600 jobs in total, making it the largest scheme of its kind in the south-west of England.
Andrew Wadsworth, Waterhouse director, said: "We are delighted to welcome Zizzi, the UK's market-leading Italian restaurant, to Brewery Square - a project set to transform Dorchester."
He added that the development would provide Dorset with a new "cultural and leisure hub".
The listed building in which much of the project will take place was built in 1879 and sold for investment in 2002. Around 200 people are currently working to revamp the site.
