Birmingham's Hotel La Tour, a £24 million development in City Park Gate expected to generate around 100 hospitality jobs and play a major role in regenerating the city centre, has appointed Marcus Wareing to devise menus and help recruit staff for the hotel's restaurant.
Alex Penhaligon has also been hired as head chef at the 80-seat eatery, which will serve a modern, innovative take on traditional English dishes, reports Caterer and Hotelkeeper.
Adrian Wyatt, chief executive of City Park Gate planners Quintan Estates and Development, recently told the Birmingham Mail that the regeneration scheme would "open a new era [for the city centre]".
Hotel La Tour's managing director Jane Schofield said she is pleased to attract two such talented people to the operation and expressed her hope the restaurant would be a success.
"We very much want the food and beverage outlets to become destinations that will attract the local market," Ms Schofield explained.
The hotel development comes as part of a plan from Hotel La Tour to open five establishments across the UK in the next five years, with the group currently looking for suitable city centre locations.
