Plans for the new Oswestry Gateway development include a 59-bedroom Premier Inn which will provide 60 hospitality jobs to people living in the area, the Border Counties Advertiser has reported.

As well as standard hotel jobs, restaurant work opportunities will be made available as the site will include a Brewers' Fayre family pub.

Nick Scott, head of development at the group behind the project J-Ross, said the hotel would be a major addition to the site and will be open to the custom of the ten million cars which pass along the road each year.

"The fact they are opening both a hotel and family restaurant underlines their commitment to this prestigious location, and establishes a high quality tone for future occupiers," he added to the news provider.

Other retailers are being invited to open up on the site, creating the possibility of more local jobs.

According to Whitbread, those employed by the company can expect it to be concerned with people and teamwork.

Catering jobs are set to be created by the decision to open a new Liverpool restaurant, according to a source.

Colin and Gary Manning, who own the city's 60 Hope Street and The Quarter restaurants, have announced plans to open a new eatery called HoSt, reports the Liverpool Daily Post.

HoSt will be located between Liverpool's Hope Street and Faulkner Street and is expected to create catering recruitment opportunities in the area when it opens in October.

Gary Manning told the newspaper: "HoSt will be an eatery that really encompasses the unique cultural quarter of the city that is Hope Street."

Yesterday (July 12th) it was announced hospitality jobs could be created in Liverpool by a planned £7 million makeover for the King's Gap Hotel in Hoylake.

The proposal, which includes the building of a 66-room hotel complete with restaurant and 100-capacity function room, is now subject to planning permission.

A Lancashire Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant is set to undergo extensive refurbishment, creating new hotel rooms, it has been reported, with the suggestion of hospitality jobs on completion.

It is said 12 new hotel rooms will be created from the expansion, as well as an overhaul of two dining rooms, according to Big Hospitality.

Craig Bancroft, co-owner of the company, told the news provider: "The finishing touches are in place, it will be the culmination of a five-year plan designed to make Northcote one of the UK’s leading country retreats."

Ribble Valley Inns - which is owned by the Northcote Group - reportedly also plans to add a third outlet in Pleasington, creating more employment opportunities.

The establishment claims on its website to cater for gourmet breaks, corporate get-togethers as well as for wedding parties.

Northcote says it is well-placed in the Ribble Valley, which is reportedly known as the official centre of Britain, making it "the ideal breaking point" between the north and south.

Called the Mill House, the pub's new look will attract sports fans and music lovers alike, brewery managers told the newspaper.

Yousef Doubooni, marketing manager for the firm, said: "We are extremely happy with the acquisition of this site."

Renovations will be completed by August 21st this year, it is claimed.

The brewing company itself has just announced plans for a £4 million expansion, which will entail the opening of more pubs under its banner and an increase in new employment opportunities as a result.

Camerons was formed when the Lion Brewery in Hartlepool, which has been in existence for more than 150 years, was purchased by Castle Eden Brewery, according to the firm's official website.

A spokeswoman for the organisation told the publication: "It will be an upmarket pub with lots of comfy sofas for people to relax on. It will change throughout the day - for breakfast, then lunchtime shoppers and then for night-time."

The manager of a successful Workington-based meat company has put the success of the shop's famous pies down to the efforts of his entire catering team.

Anthony Dalzell, dubbed the "pie king" by certain sources, says the title should be given to the men and women who produce the ingredients to go into the pies and prepare the meat, according to Cumbria's News and Star.

His advice suggests anyone seeking opportunities in catering or working as a chef should appreciate how far teamwork can go in producing the end result.

Around 8,000 pies are sold on Fridays and Saturdays from the shop, with 2,500 customers visiting.

A micro-brewery near Windermere in the Lake District which has created award-winning beers with names such as Collie Wobbles is considering a possible expansion in the future, with the chance of local jobs in the offing.

Lakeland Today has revealed how pub manager and brewer Brian Coulthwaite set up his second business, the brewery, adjacent to his pub The Watermill in Ings in 2006.

He now looks to the future, hoping to expand, with the help of the Lancaster Product Development Unit at Lancaster University, which has helped create around 600 jobs in the past two years, the source claims.

This may prove to be a boost to the licensee's present brewery workforce of two people.

Mr Coulthwaite told the newspaper: "The work by the university has shown me there is the potential for bigger premises, if that's the route I want to take."

Since the brewery's inception in 2006, operations have proved "successful", the publication reports, with the pub even establishing its own beer festival on the back of the original beverages.

Other beers produced by the establishment include humorously titled W'Ruff Night and A Bit'er Ruff, all of them depicting dog cartoons on the label.
