According to Get Bracknell, the 29-year-old's arrival was "embraced" by staff at the establishment and he went on to win the praise of restaurant manager Karl Bentley, who described him as a "fantastic chef".

Mr Bentley noted the new recruit's positive attitude and also said diners had sent in "rave reviews" since he took over the kitchen.

Fellow colleagues have also taken to him, with him integrating into the team quickly, the news provider says.

Andrew said from his first visit to the eatery he knew it was where he wanted to work.

He told the website: "My job is to get the best out of my team through motivation and developing their skills. They're a great group who all take a huge amount of pride in their jobs – it's a privilege to work with them."

The Swan is a 45-bedroom four-star establishment situated on the river Thames.

Goadsby has acquired the site, which sits opposite the Bournemouth International Centre, according to PropertyMall.com.

The website calls the project "arguably the most exciting mixed-use hotel development opportunity" on the south coast at present.

Divisional director of the firm, Ian Palmer, told the news provider of his delight at the outcome of the three-year negotiations for the buildings, going on to say the firm has received "significant interest" from the hotel industry.

Bookings for the extended Crown hotel have already flooded in, with dates as far ahead as Christmas 2009 being taken, the Gazette reports.

In a £1 million expansion, the establishment gained 11 rooms and now accounts for 65 hotel jobs in the area.

The new space comes weeks after Karen Turnball, the tourism development officer for Colchester, said the region needed more visitors, the newspaper reports.

According to Richard Sunderland, managing director of the hotel, there is no shortage of demand in the region, classing it as "huge".

The pub has already received accolades such as the Pub of the Year in 2005 from Caterer magazine and two AA rosettes.

It has recently been reported a new Travelodge in Padstow, Cornwall, may make the location ideal for stag and hen parties, according to the Cornishman.

A new Hilton hotel will "inject new life" into the faltering mid-range hotel sector, it has been claimed.

Website bighospitality.co.uk reported the UK's first Hilton Garden Inn, launched in North Luton, with 20 more to be added in the next decade.

Simon Vincent, president for Hilton UK and Ireland, called Hilton Garden "a fresh and exciting brand which will inject new life into the UK's mid market hotel sector".

In news of interest to those working in hotels, the website said the mid-market hotel sector has flagged over the last year as the credit crunch bites and consumers opt for budget accommodation.

Katrina Jones of Hilton said the company saw "a real opportunity in the mid market sector as there really is no dominant mid market player".

Another Hilton Garden Inn has also just opened in Riverhead, New York, Market Watch reports.

Adrian Kurre, senior vice president of brand management, said it was "the ideal upscale mid-priced lodging option", adding that it was suitable for business and leisure travellers.

Mitch Adams, pub managerof the Thatchers, told the newspaper: "We serve freshly cooked local produce and the main hurdle we have to overcome is finding chefs."

After impressing judges with an evening meal following the day's culinary training, the two winning chefs will proceed to complete kitchen apprenticeships which will hopefully result in vocational qualifications.
