The Welsh town would benefit from the creation of around 50 jobs if the project is given the green light by a planning committee, who have yet to examine the proposal, reports the Cambrian News.

Marston's would run the pub and restaurant while the hotel would be the responsibility of another firm, the company claimed.

A spokesperson for Marston's said: "If planning permission is granted, work on the new community facility is expected to begin in spring, with hope it will be completed and open by Christmas or early 2013."

It serves seven real ales as well as a selection of local ciders and has stocked beer from over 100 breweries since it opened, concentrating mostly on local produce.

The former Seven Stars bar on Chester Street has been renamed Saith Seren, a direct Welsh translation of its original name, and is being managed by the Wrexham Welsh Centre, reports BBC News.

It was officially opened by Welsh learner of the year and Wrexham Supporters' Trust member, Spencer Harris, and former Wrexham manager and player Dixie McNeil.
